WHITE KITCHEN TILE IDEAS THAT DON'T LOOK BORING

White tile doesn't have to mean basic 3×6 subway. Here are five white tile directions that elevate a Kelowna kitchen instead of dating it.

LARGE-FORMAT WHITE PORCELAIN (24"×48")

A single field of large-format white porcelain on the floor reads modern, makes the kitchen feel bigger, and minimizes grout lines. Pair with rectified edges (1/16" grout) for that "where do the seams go" luxury look. ~$12–$18/sq ft installed in Kelowna.

HERRINGBONE WHITE SUBWAY

Subway tile isn't dated — flat-running subway is. Lay it in a herringbone pattern (or vertical stack) and it instantly reads as deliberate. Works for backsplash and floor.

FLUTED / REEDED WALL TILE

3D-textured fluted white tile on the backsplash creates light-and-shadow depth that flat tile can't match. Pair with a quartz waterfall counter and brass hardware. The textural element of Kelowna luxury kitchens in 2026.

ZELLIGE HANDMADE TILE

Imperfect, glossy, hand-formed Moroccan zellige tile is the antidote to corporate kitchens. Best in white, off-white, or cream — the slight irregularity catches light beautifully. More expensive ($14–$20/sq ft material) but the character is unmatched.

WHITE MARBLE-LOOK PORCELAIN

High-end porcelain with marble-veined patterns delivers the look of Calacatta or Carrara without the staining and resealing. We install book-matched panels for a continuous veining effect on backsplashes and feature walls.

COMMON MISTAKE: PURE WHITE GROUT

Pure white grout in a kitchen is a maintenance disaster — it stains within months. Use a soft warm-white or pale gray epoxy grout for an almost-invisible look that won't yellow.
